The Ideal Switch takes on IMS

We just got back from IMS 2019 – and it was a busy few days meeting with media, analysts, customers and partners. Boston is well-known as being a hotbed for microwave startups and entrepreneurs, making it the perfect place for what’s often referred to as the most important forum for RF and microwave professionals. This year, we were part of the brand new Startup Pavilion at IMS, which made for an exciting vantage point: new technologies were all around us. Of course – we were unveiling new technologies of our own. Our latest Ideal Switch-based products, the MM51xx series, debuted at IMS. These new products, which operate at high power with ultra-low RF losses, and in a miniaturized surface-mount package, bring unprecedented performance improvements over electromechanical and solid-state RF switches. At our IMS booth, we put the MM51xx series through its paces, giving demos with a few of the many applications that they were designed for – including very low-loss, yet high power handling switched filter banks which are ideal for 5G infrastructure, military and commercial applications. Our biggest opportunity with this new series of products lies in helping companies reduce the size, weight and power dissipation in a wide variety of RF front-end architectures. We’re setting a new standard for RF switch performance – and changing the game for electronic switch designers. IMS is the world’s largest event for RF and microwave technology – and the connections made as well as knowledge gained are sure to positively impact Menlo Micro for years to come. Next up for the Menlo team is European Microwave Week in Paris, France in early October, where we will be sharing the latest characterization results and more application-specific reference designs. In the meantime, be sure to read what the industry insiders at Electronic Design and everythingRF had to say about our new MM51xx series.

The Ideal Switch is here to stay – and this is only the beginning. Stay tuned!
