Role Summary and Purpose

You will be an integral member of the team responsible for driving Menlo’s process technologies into high volume manufacturing. Menlo Microsystems is establishing a MEMS-based product wafer manufacturing facility for the purpose of expanding its production capacity and accelerating the time to market cycle of its new wafer-based products.  The core aspect of this role will be to drive the successful and safe operation of all cleanroom manufacturing processes, facilities and tools for the timely delivery of products by effectively working cross-functionally to achieve goals. You will establish all processes, procedures, and systems for managing an environmentally compliant and safe operating site.  You will also need to demonstrate flexibility in the early stages as the site is being established and work “outside the box” to establish initial production capability. You will report to the Manager of Facilities and EHS and work within a fast-paced and energetic team both within the site and across the company.

This position will have corporate responsibilities on Health and Safety across various offices to ensure compliance and a safe work environment.

Essential Responsibilities

This position is responsible for maintaining an environmentally compliant and safe operating manufacturing site.  

You will: 

  • Manage the environmental health and safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure and maintain the quality standards, manufacturing system requirements and product specifications for Menlo’s products
  • Comply with all company quality and safety policies and procedures
  • Inspect the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.      
  • Develop and implement inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections.      
  • Develop health and safety procedures for all areas of the company.      
  • Prepare and schedule training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.      
  • Monitor compliance with safety procedures.      
  • Draft inspection reports to document findings.      
  • Ensure that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.      
  • Maintain records of discharge of or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required.      

Qualifications and Requirements

  • BS, MS or related discipline degree / certifications
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.   
  • Proficiency in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.   
  • Strong demonstrated background in semiconductor facilities operation and management
  • Minimum 10 years of industrial or relevant experience in microelectronics
  • Minimum 5 years cleanroom facilities experience
  • In depth understanding of semiconductor tools, processes and volume manufacturing
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Willingness to travel about 10% of time 
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required
  • Able to work full-time at facility located in Ithaca, NY

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; experience communicating complex tools, facilities, systems to broadly skilled audience
  • Prior history with demonstrated critical problem solving
  • In depth knowledge of regulations for semiconductor manufacturing facilities and the Environmental Health and Safety Requirements of semiconductor cleanroom facility
