About Us

Menlo Micro has reinvented one of the most fundamental building blocks of electronic systems – the electronic switch. Menlo Micro’s technology creates a new switch category that eliminates compromises and tradeoffs by combining the benefits of electromechanical and solid-state switches into the best of both worlds with its “Ideal Switch.”

Are you interested in playing a critical, impactful role and work with top electronic systems talent at an exciting startup backed by industry leaders? Do you want to help create truly disruptive and unique products that have the ability to change markets? If you answered yes to both, this may be your opportunity to have a significant impact at a cutting-edge startup with industry-leading technology that will drive electronic systems innovation across a diverse range of industries.

Role Summary and Purpose

You will be an integral member of the team responsible for driving Menlo’s process technologies into high volume manufacturing. The core aspect of this role will be the definition and characterization of the MEMS device electrical, mechanical and reliability characteristics to support volume manufacturing as well as new product and technology introductions.

You will report to the Senior Director of Process Integration/Engineering and work within a fast paced and energetic team as well as work cross functionally with the Operations, Quality and other teams.

Essential Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the device and thin film electrical, mechanical and reliability characterization and analysis of ohmic MEMS switches. The successful candidate will provide critical analysis to drive successful and timely engineering decisions for both MEMS manufacturing, New Product Introduction and the support of new process technologies.

The candidate will drive Menlo’s electrical test infrastructure, test and analysis for rapid learning cycles and volume manufacturing.

You will:

  • Design, develop, de-bug, implement and operate DC through RF automated bench test equipment
  • Be responsible for driving a variety of device measurements including electrical (DC, impedance, reliability, etc.) and mechanical (resonance, curvature, stress, etc.) and be responsible for communicating the results to the broader team. Implement automated data acquisition, analysis scripts and protocols across all test platforms
  • Implement and drive fundamental MEMS device electrical characterization for device mechanical response, electrical and thermal stress, reliability, process and yield improvements
  • Work across organizations to develop and drive best in class electrical test and data communication processes
  • Drive sound electrical failure mode analysis and DOE style experimental practices
  • Maintain the bench and production test infrastructure.
  • Document & ensure compliance with safety requirements for all phases of tool installation & operation.
  • Manage test tool demonstration & sign-off criteria, including the preparation and execution of equipment test plans and data collection.  Test plans should include sample size, wafer-to-wafer & lot-to-lot repeatability, etc., while data collection could include defect counts, uniformity, etc.
  • Establish process of record (POR) for production test conditions for multiple product lines within a dedicated MEMS volume production fabrication facility
  • Train operators and/or technicians to properly operate production and development electrical test tools
  • Establish and train safety procedures for operation and maintenance of test  tools.
  • Ensure and maintain quality standards, engineering requirements and product specifications for Menlo’s process technology
  • Comply with all company quality and safety policies and procedures

Qualifications and Requirements

  • MS or PhD in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science, physics or a related field with minimum 10 years of professional work experience or equivalent in MEMS device development.
  • In depth understanding of MEMS electrical & mechanical operation and theory.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, develop, debug and implement new MEMS and/or semiconductor device test systems.
  • Demonstrated ability in test automation and data analysis scripting
  • Experience with medium to high volume production test systems, controls and processes
  • Demonstrated ability to identify device failure modes and design, develop and implement device test infrastructure to characterize and automate reliability measurements
