Role Summary and Purpose:

You will be responsible for carrying out MEMS device RF performance characterization as well as data analysis to assist device model build-up to advance the technology roadmap. You'll also perform a broad variety of electrical device measurements with a focus on RF and microwave, and communicate the results to the team.

In this role, you will be a core member of the New Technology Introduction (NTI) team responsible for developing the new ohmic MEMS switch design and fabrication process technology nodes.You will report to the Director of Technology, and work on a fast-paced and energetic technology team as well as work cross-functionally with Product Development, Quality and Applications/Marketing teams

Qualifications and requirements:

To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer.

In addition, to be a good fit for the MEMS RF Test Engineer opportunity, you will have:

  • A BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, preferably in a microwave and semiconductor track
  • Hands-on experience with RF/microwave test equipment, such as network analyzers, power meters, high-speed digital scopes, etc.; you may have acquired this experience in school or professionally
  • Hands-on experience with electronic test and diagnostic equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and impedance analyzers
  • Sound understanding of circuit theory, electronics, and electrical test
  • The ability to perform and document various electrical tests

You will need the ability to:

  • Support RF/Microwave PDK test structure designs
  • Perform RF/Microwave test structures characterization
  • Analyze, plot, and communicate test results effectively
  • Derive conclusions supported by detailed technical analysis
  • Work in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and grow
  • Strong attention to detail and discipline in conducting test
  • Understand the microwave theory
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Desired/Preferred Characteristics:

  • A PhD in Electrical Engineering in MEMS and/or RF field
  • Experience with RF design and simulation tools, such as Keysight ADS
  • Familiarity with Matlab, Python and/or JMP as data analysis tools
  • Familiarity with C, Python and or LabView programming languages

More about the Role:

  • In addition to the responsibilities described above, you will work in an innovative team environment supporting the Technology team’s goal to deliver novel MEMS switch design and process improvements and support its PDK development for DC through 67 GHz and beyond of MEMS-based switching devices at power levels from mW through KW’s. you'll work closely with New Technology Introduction team to deliver roadmap technology innovations.
  • Responsibilities will include carrying out RF/microwave tests on both wafer probe station and bench level to characterize the test structures, current product designs and new design concepts. You'll get involved in PDK development and preparation for new product initiatives, and also contribute to the improvement and development of test automation infrastructure including both software and hardware.

More specifically, you will:

  • Perform RF MEMS wafer probing and RF bench test
  • Support design of RF/Microwave PDK test structures
  • Perform data analysis
  • Document test requirements, create test plans and help develop test methods
  • Understand, document, and contribute to test automation scripts
  • Support lab maintenance and equipment checkup
  • Implement, debug, and run electrical tests for device characterization
  • Summarize, share, and communicate results with the team
